Form 1099-G, Statement for Recipients of Certain Government Payments, is issued to any individual who received Delaware Unemployment Insurance benefits for the prior calendar year. The 1099-G reflects Delawares UI benefit payment amounts that were issued within that calendar year. This may be different from the week of unemployment for which the benefits were paid.
1099-Gs were required by law to be mailed by January 31st for the prior calendar year. The Division has mailed the 1099-Gs for Calendar Year 2020.
1099-Gs were mailed during the week of January 25th. 1099-Gs are only issued to the individual to whom benefits were paid. If you have moved since filing for UI benefits, your 1099-G will NOT be forwarded by the United States Postal Service.
What To Do If You Lost Your W
The W-2 form is a vital piece of info for most tax filers as it confirms the income you earned for that tax year. Sometimes known as the Wage and Tax Statement, this is sent out by employers at the beginning of every calendar year.
These businesses, by law, have to mail the W-2 forms by January 31 so that filers have sufficient time to submit their taxes by the April 15 deadline for filing taxes. Your Employer also has to send a copy of your W-2 straight to the IRS.
What if you dont have your W-2 form, what should you do next? As per the IRS, you have a few options to think about:

If I Received Unemployment Part Of The Year Do I File It Differently Than The W2
Yes, unemployment compensation is reported on your tax return differently than, and separately from, W-2 wage income. While the tax rate is identical they are not identical items. Therefore they must be entered into the TurboTax software differently.
For wages, you should receive a W-2 from your employer or employers.
For unemployment compensation benefits, you should probably receive a Form 1099-G from your state government. If you have not received one of these statements yet then you likely will shortly. Also, you can call your state unemployment insurance office and ask them to send you one, or to send a replacement.
In TurboTax, entering state unemployment from a 1099-G is pretty simple. Just follow these mechanical instructions:
However, if you dont think that youll be getting a 1099-G from your state government, because your unemployment compensation was paid through another source, such as a private union, then please refer to the following webpage for further details, and instructions:

The deadline for your employer to send your W-2 form to you is January 31. Allow a few extra days for it to reach you in the mail.
The W-2 form will show your annual earnings, taxable fringe benefits, income taxes withheld, 401 contributions and other vital tax information.
If you do not receive Form W-2 by early February or misplace it before filing your tax return, the first thing to do is ask your employer for another copy. There may be a fee for this, especially if your employer uses a payroll tax service.
Some employers have their Form W-2s posted on a secure webpage accessible on the internet. If this is the case in your situation, you can log onto the website and print another copy of your W-2.
If you do not receive your Form W-2 from your employer before the April 15 tax filing deadline, you may complete IRS Form 4852 with the year-to-date information from your last paystub of the tax year. File the Form 4852 with your income tax return.

If Fraud Or Identity Theft Suspected Regarding Your Benefits And/or Form 1099
Will I receive a 1099G if I was a victim of identity theft?
It is the Departments goal to prevent any income that you did not receive or file for from being reported under your SSN. We are working diligently to process returned payments, debit cards, checks return a significant number of fraud calls and investigate identity theft complaints.
If you were a victim and payments were issued to you, but you returned the UC debit card, checks, or direct deposits that you received, you should NOT receive a 1099G. However, if you DO receive a 1099G and believe you shouldnt have because youve returned the funds and submitted an identity theft complaint, we ask for your patience while we work through our increased workload due to the pandemic.
If you were a victim of identity theft but no benefits were paid on the claim, you should NOT receive a 1099G. If a claim was opened and paid using your information and you did not receive the funds and therefore were unable to return them to the department, you should email the Delaware Division of Unemployment Insurance at to to file an identity theft complaint. Upon completion of the investigation, if it is found that you were a true victim of identity theft, a revised 1099G will be issued to you.

Usually you need to go to the stateâs unemployment web site to get it and print it out. To enter it on your tax return, go to Federal> Wages & Income> Unemployment /Government benefits on Form 1099G
There are some employers who make W-2âs available for import to TurboTax, but not all do this. And it is late in the year, so it might not even still be available for import at this time. You might have to ask your employer for a copy of the W-2 that was issued in January.
