Virtually all states look at your recent work history and earnings during a one-year “base period” to determine your eligibility for unemployment. . In Georgia, as in most states, the base period is the earliest four of the five complete calendar quarters before you filed your benefits claim. Your benefit amount will be determined by the amount of wages in your base period, which is the first four completed quarters in the 15 months prior to your filing of a claim.
