If you never applied for PUA but believe you have past weeks to claimYou can apply through Oct. 6, 2021, but the week ending Sept. 4 is still the last payable week for PUA benefits. Calculating Your Biweekly Payment Day

The following table shows how to calculate your next filing day. For example, if you requested payment on a Monday, you should request your next payment on the second Monday after that. You can also request payment during the open filing days in the same week as your designated filing day.

Example 1 Normal Payment Request Schedule: You request payment on a Monday during your first week. You would SKIP the next Monday in week 2, and then request payment on the Monday after that in week 3. Then you would skip the Monday in week 4 and request payment again on the next Monday.

Example 2 You Miss One of Your Filing Days: You request payment on a Tuesday during your first week. You skip the next Tuesday in week 2, but then miss the Tuesday after that in week 3. To stay on schedule, you would request payment on any of our open filing days during week 3. You would then skip the Tuesday in week 4, and request payment again on the next Tuesday after that.

When you request payment on Tele-Serv, the program will tell you the next date to request payment. Please make note of the date and mark it on your calendar.

How Much Will I Receive

We must verify wage information to determine your correct benefits. This typically takes up to three weeks if there are no issues with your application.

However, to get you money as soon as possible, we will pay you the minimum amount you are eligible for after you are approved and you submit your first weekly claim.

We will review the information you submit as quickly as possible and calculate the total benefits youre owed. Any money you missed will be paid.

How Long Will Extended Benefits Continue

The extended benefits are divided into three different programs.

  • Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation, or PEUC, provides extra weeks of benefits for people who have expended all their weeks of regular unemployment benefits.
  • Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA, is the program for gig workers, self-employed people and independent workers.
  • Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, or FPUC, is the extra $300 per week for all unemployment recipients for 11 weeks.

For the most part, the extended benefits will last 11 weeks. They’ll be payable for the period between Dec. 27 and March 14, when the programs “expire.”

However, some people will be allowed to keep collecting benefits during a phaseout period for several weeks after that, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Anyone who collects benefits in the week ending March 14 can continue to collect benefits for another four weeks afterward but only if they haven’t yet surpassed 50 weeks of PUA benefits or 24 weeks of PEUC benefits. It can get very complicated, but the state’s unemployment system will likely tell people the number of weeks they have resuming.

The $300 boost will expire for everyone on March 14.

President Joe Bidens signature on the American Rescue Plan Act on Thursday spurred the states Department of Labor and Employment into action so out-of-work Coloradans see no delay in receiving federal jobless benefits.

In anticipation of the bills passage, the state labor department planned to take the unemployment system offline Friday night to prepare it to pay out federal pandemic benefits through Labor Day.

As a result, users should not see a payment lapse as they did in December after the last federal relief package passed. That delay was due to changes in federal jobless programs that took two months for the state to update its system in order to pay people making unemployment claims.

What You Need To Do To Get Extended Benefits:

Extended PEUC and PUA benefits will be available for the week of Feb. 1 for people in the first phase of deployment. That first phase only includes people who still had active claims when the previous programs expired late in December. They should receive an email from CDLE.

The email instructs them to:

  • Log into the MyUI+ system. If necessary, create an account.
  • Apply for regular unemployment benefits by selecting Apply for Standard UI Benefits in the navigation menu. This is necessary even for people who know they have exhausted their regular benefits. The system must reject your application for regular benefits before it can approve you for extended benefits. This is a requirement of federal guidelines, according to CDLE. It can take 24 hours to get that rejection. If you do not see an option to apply for standard benefits, continue to the next step.
  • On or after Feb. 1, reopen your PUA or PEUC claim in MyUI+.
  • The system will automatically backdate claims for all available weeks. Once the claim is reopened, applicants must continue to certify their claim weekly to get payments.
