What If I Quit My Job Because I Am Generally Concerned Over The Covid
An individual who leaves work voluntarily generally cannot receive UI. Your eligibility in this situation will depend on whether you can demonstrate you had a good reason for quitting, and that the reason was because of your employer. You generally must make a reasonable effort to work with your employer to resolve whatever issues made you consider quitting.
The Claimant Quit Without Giving Me Any Notice Or Reason Why Should I Be Held Liable For The Benefits When My Business Suffered As A Result
If you are a base period employer and your account is potentially liable for a portion of the charges resulting from a claim for UI benefits, you will be mailed a Notice of Initial Claim and Potential Charges To Your Account . You must provide a timely and complete response to this notice so that the reason for separation can be reviewed. Your response will be used to determine an appropriate action regarding liability, if any, on your account.

Repayment Assistance Plan Stages
The plan has two stages: interest relief and debt reduction.
1. Interest relief
The interest relief stage is available for up to 60 months, or until you are out of school for 10 years, whichever comes first.
During the interest relief stage
- your monthly affordable payment will first go toward paying down your loan principal
- if your payment is large enough, the remainder will go toward monthly interest
- the governments of Canada and Ontario cover all monthly interest that is not covered by your payment
If you are not required to make any payments at all during this stage, the governments of Canada and Ontario will cover your entire monthly interest charges and your loan principal would stay frozen.
Visit the National Student Loans Service Centre website to get more information.
2. Debt reduction
The debt reduction stage occurs after the interest relief stage, which is after you have received interest relief for a minimum of 60 months or you have been out of school for 10 years, whichever comes first.
During the debt reduction stage:
- you will make either no payments or a monthly affordable payment, depending on your income and family size
- your monthly affordable payment, if any, will go first toward paying down your loan principal
- if your payment is large enough, the remainder will go toward paying monthly interest
Visit the National Student Loans Service Centre website to get more information.

What Is Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation And Do I Qualify
The original CARES Act had unemployed workers either get their benefits from the state through unemployment insurance or through a federal program called Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA. Someone who was self-employed or who worked as a gig worker, freelancer or contractor who doesn’t typically receive unemployment benefits after being laid off could receive PUA instead.
In the language of the new bill, however, someone who earned a combination of income from a traditional job and employment as a contractor would either receive the unemployment insurance payment or the PUA, but not a combination of both.
With Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation, a person who made more money from self-employment or a contracting job — that requires a 1099 form — could receive an extra $100 a week. For example, let’s say you made $50,000 in 2019, which was split with $30,000 coming from a contractor job and $20,000 from a part-time job at a company. If you were laid off, the state unemployment office would calculate whether you’d receive benefits for the $30,000 via PUA or $20,000 via unemployment insurance but not a combination of the two.
Though someone who works a traditional job and makes $50,000 a year in New York would receive $480 a week from unemployment insurance, by having a mix of the two, you’d get the greater of the two different amounts, which would be the PUA of $288 a week rather than the $280 from unemployment.
Are Benefits The Same For Everybody
No. Payment amounts depend on a workers prior wages, generally calculated over the last past fiscal year. They also vary significantly between states, which tend to use different formulas to calculate aid. Generally, unemployment insurance in most states replaces between 3050 percent of lost earnings.

You Must Be Able And Available To Work
Your obligation to be able and available to work could mean you cannot travel because you would then be unavailable for work. You are not entitled to receive employment insurance benefits for any working day on which you are unavailable.
Usually, you are also not entitled to receive any employment insurance benefits for time spent outside Canada. The law makes certain exceptions, for example, when you must leave the country to receive medical treatment that isnt readily available where you live, or to attend the funeral of a family member.
Being available for work might also mean that you cant go back to school. But some federal government programs might let you return to school while continuing to receive benefits. To learn more, see the Service Canada website.

Do You Have Good Cause To Quit
If you left your job to pursue other opportunities, change careers, start your own business, or go back to school, you didn’t have “good cause” to quit. These are all very good reasons to leave a job, but they don’t entitle you to collect unemployment benefits. Good cause means you really didn’t have another choice.
In some states, benefits will be paid only to those who had job-related reasons for quitting, such as unsafe working conditions. In other states, an employee who has compelling personal reasons to quit will also be eligible for benefits.
Here are some situations in which you might have good cause to quitand be eligible for unemployment benefits:
Your state may define good cause more generously. For example, some states provide benefits to an employee who quit to move with a spouse who has accepted a job in another state or has been reposted by the military.
To find out what your state considers good cause for quitting, contact your state’s unemployment insurance agency.
How Long Will I Receive Benefits
Usually, most states permit an individual to obtain unemployment for a maximum of 26 weeks or half the benefit year. A benefit year is a period when your claim is established, and it will remain open for one year .
A few states have standardized benefit duration, while most have different durations depending https://fileunemployment.org/unemployment-benefitsupon the worker. In a state with varied duration, the benefit year may probably include less than 26 payable weeks. The calculation is done using this formula 26 x WBA or 1/3 BPW. Generally, the smallest amount is considered. WBA is the Weekly Benefit Amount, so 26 x WBA would be the regular weekly program. 1/3 BPW refers to the Base Period Wages, so if a person did not succeed to earn more than three times the standard benefit amount, they will be suitable for fewer weeks of coverage.
