- You will receive all benefits you are entitled to, including any backdated payments you are due.
If you are eligible, your first payment will generally be made in two to three weeks from the time your claim is completed and processed. In some cases, we must get additional information before payment can be made and your first payment may take longer. We use this time to review and process your application for benefits. You will not receive benefits during this period. This is why you may see your claim status as pending.
- New Yorkers who are receiving Unemployment Insurance benefits are eligible for up to 26 weeks of benefits.

Information Required When Filing For Unemployment Insurance Benefits
The following information is needed when filing for UI benefits:
- social security number
- name, payroll address and telephone number of your last employer
- start and end dates of your last job
- whether or not you will receive vacation pay, severance, etc.
- alien registration number
- DD-214 if you served in the U.S. military during the last 18 months

What information do I need to file a new application?
When filing a new application, you will need the following information:
- Your Social Security number
- Full mailing address, including apartment or lot number, Zip Code and PO Box if you use one
- A phone number where you can be reached during the day
- The name and mailing address of your last employer, no matter how long you worked there
- Note: Your paycheck stub or W-2 form usually contains this information
- The date you began and stopped working for each employer and the reason you left each job for the last 18 months
- The county in which you live
- Your driver’s license number
- If you are not a citizen or national of the United States, your employment authorization number and expiration date
- If you were active duty military within the past 18 months, your DD-214, Member #4 form
- If you were a federal employee, your Standard Form SF-50 or pay stub
- Any separation, vacation, or holiday pay you have received or will receive in the future.
A record of your application will not be established unless you are told your claim has been accepted. If you are unable to complete your application, the information you have entered will be saved for 7 days from the date you began filing the claim so that you can complete it later and within 7 days.

Pa Residents Can Now File For Unemployment Benefits By Phone
HARRISBURG, Pa. Pennsylvanias new version of the Pennsylvania Teleclaims system to allow residents to file for unemployment benefits by phone is now in operation.
The PAT system has replaced a different file-by-phone system. This change is part of the Department of Labor & Industrys new modern unemployment compensation system that launched June 8.
Acting Secretary Jennifer Berrier said the PAT system provides an easy way to file for people who lack computer systems.
By making the change to our new UC system, were able to offer this service around the clock while providing individuals with the option to view more details about their claim online, Berrier said.
School Employees / Educators
School employees and educators may be entitled to collect unemployment insurance but have a different criteria to determine eligibility for unemployment insurance.
