The W2 online import solution means that you can get a copy of your W2 with H& R Block or TurboTax, and they will start the process to get you your refund as quickly as possible. Why wait for a copy of your W2 to come in the mail, when it, and your refund, are only a click away?

What If I Dont Have My W

Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, shows your income and the taxes withheld from your pay for the year. Most people get their W-2 forms by the end of January. You need it to file an accurate tax return.

If you need a copy of your W-2, heres what you should do:

  • Contact your employer. This is your quickest option. Make sure they have your correct address. Some employers may even have a W-2 for previous years.

    Withholding Taxes From Your Payments

    If you are receiving benefits, you may have federal income taxes withheld from your unemployment benefit payments. Tax withholding is completely voluntary withholding taxes is not required. If you ask us to withhold taxes, we will withhold 10 percent of the gross amount of each payment before sending it to you.

    To start or stop federal tax withholding for unemployment benefit payments:

    • Choose your withholding option when you apply for benefits online through Unemployment Benefits Services.
    • Review and change your withholding status by logging onto Unemployment Benefits Services and selecting IRS Tax Information from the Quick Links menu on the My Home page.
    • Review and change your withholding status by calling Tele-Serv and selecting Option 2, then Option 5.

    Requesting A Duplicate 1099

    If you do not receive your Form 1099-G by February 1, and you received unemployment benefits during the prior calendar year, you may request a duplicate 1099-G form by phone:

  • Call Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321.
  • Select option 2 and follow the prompts.
  • We cannot process requests for duplicate 1099-G forms until after February 1 because throughout January we are still mailing the original forms.

    You do not need a paper copy of Form 1099-G to file your federal tax return the IRS only needs the total amount of benefits TWC paid you during the previous calendar year and the amount of taxes withheld.

    If I Received Unemployment Part Of The Year Do I File It Differently Than The W2

    How Do I Get My Florida Unemployment W2

    Yes, unemployment compensation is reported on your tax return differently than, and separately from, W-2 wage income. While the tax rate is identical they are not identical items. Therefore they must be entered into the TurboTax software differently.

    For wages, you should receive a W-2 from your employer or employers.

    For unemployment compensation benefits, you should probably receive a Form 1099-G from your state government. If you have not received one of these statements yet then you likely will shortly. Also, you can call your state unemployment insurance office and ask them to send you one, or to send a replacement.

    In TurboTax, entering state unemployment from a 1099-G is pretty simple. Just follow these mechanical instructions:

  • Open your tax return in TurboTax online.
  • Using the Search feature in the upper right corner of the screen, enter ‘unemployment compensation‘ and perform the search. Then click on the Jump to link, which is the first item in the search results.
  • On the Unemployment screen, answer Yes and click Continue.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your 1099-G information.

    How Can I Get A Copy Of My Wage And Tax Statements

    We can give you copies or printouts of your Forms W-2 for any year from 1978 to the present. You can get free copies if you need them for a Social Security-related reason. But there is a fee of $90 per request if you need them for an unrelated reason. You can also get a transcript or copy of your Form W-2 from the Internal Revenue Service. However, state and local tax information isnt available if you e-filed your tax return.Some examples of non-Social Security program purposes are:

    • Filing federal or state tax returns

    You may send the form back to NYSDOL via your online account, by fax, or by mail. Follow the instructions on the bottom of the form.
