The Schools Partnership Programmesees the creation of long-term relationships between the Trust and secondary schools or FE colleges in our place-based hubs. Through these long-term relationships we facilitate free construction and built environment led sessions and activities delivered to students from Year 7 to Year 13. The sessions and activities can include an introduction to industry, industry networking events, curriculum based lessons, work experience opportunities and support for applying for apprenticeships or further education courses. Budding Builders is a free entry-level Health & Safety in Construction course for young people who are unemployed, not currently in education or training or facing any other barriers to entering the construction industry. This course is delivered in London. Find out more here.
Budding Brunels is a free OCN accredited 3-day workshop for young people still in education, and offers careers advice and guidance, employability skills and work experience opportunities for students interested in STEM subjects and potential careers in construction. Free Construction Courses With Rotherham Skills Academy
Rotherham Skills Academy is offering its construction courses to unemployed people in the South Yorkshire region.
Learners are offered £40 per week for travel expenses and breakfast, lunch, boots, gloves and hi-vis clothing is provided, according to Rotherham Skills Academy.

- Two-week Introduction to Construction course including Carbon Awareness and Essential Digital Skills qualifications
- Six-week Multi-trade course including a two-week training block in Painting and Decorating, Joinery, and Bricklaying.

Construction Training Fund Unemployed Participants
The Construction Training Fund supports and subsidises training for those building WA by supporting the training and development of a skilled workforce.
Subsidies are available to reduce training costs, making it easier for eligible businesses and employees to access the training they need when they need it.
Subsidies of up to 80% are available to help reduce training costs for eligible businesses and employees to develop and enhance the skills required by a growing industry.
What does this mean?
Where you provide AusQ Training with information that indicates you or your employees are an eligible worker under the CTF, we will reduce your initial fee payment to the amount excluding the applicable CTF rebate amount. AusQ Training will then take care of the required documentation and then claim the difference of the fee amount from the CTF.
What about participants whom are are currently unemployed?
Construction Training Fund understands that sometimes participants are unemployed at the time of training and that the training will enable them to gain employment OR that they were employed prior to training course, however now unemployed and seeking employment.
These cases are handled slightly differently to the employed participants.
If participants are unemployed at time of training and have a relevant Letter of Offer of Employment from an eligible company or contractor in the construction industry for direct employment in the construction industry, we need to see the following:

A new partnership between employability and skills provider BCHA and e-learning specialist First4Training offers unemployed people free training and a guaranteed job interview in construction.
BUILDING LINKS BCHA and First4Training have partnered to offer unemployed people training and a guaranteed job interview in construction. Pictured: Val Jefferies project manager at BCHA and Jack Warren, sales director of First4Training.
The fully-funded one-day course is open to people over 16 and offers a foundation level qualification encompassing asbestos awareness, manual handling, workplace health & safety and working at heights.
Participants can also take advantage of a guaranteed job interview with a local employer including Woodmace and First4Building and many more.
Charitable Housing Association BCHA provides learning and training opportunities for hundreds of people each year, supporting people into employment, volunteering and further education.
The construction initiative is part of BCHAs The Way Forward programme, which was set up in March 2021 to offer support, coaching and skills to people impacted financially by the Covid pandemic.

Applied Digital Skills is a video-based curriculum that teaches you how to identify your digital literacy skills and apply professional approaches to managing and improving them. It allows anyone to practice basic digital skills using Google Workspace for Education apps. For example, you’ll learn and Google Docs.

Free Qualifications For Adults
If you are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification or higher, you can access a free level 3 qualification.
Level 3 is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or A levels.
If you already have a level 3 qualification or higher, but you earn below the National Living Wage annually or are unemployed, you can also access these qualifications for free. This is regardless of any qualifications you already have.
In some areas there may be a slightly different low wage threshold. Check with your local training provider to find out the low wage threshold in your area.

Meeting The Demand: Free Construction Courses By Reform Training
REFORM TRAINING & SKILLS LTD
REFORM Training and Skills is offering free construction courses to help those who are unemployed or potentially low paid.
Reform Training has been developing peoples skills to help them into work since 2013 across the south west. They are now working with Somerset Skills and Learning to provide free CSCS training and cards for residents in Somerset.
To cater for a demand for employment opportunities, the company is working alongside Somerset Skills and Learning to fill a gap in the market and meet the demand for the many people who want to work in construction but havent been able to afford the qualifications.
CSCS training can be expensive for someone who is unemployed or on a low income, so Reform Training use the funding provided by Somerset Skills and Learning to pay for the qualification. Everything will be sorted by Reform Training and all the participants will have to do is take part in the course. The courses last five days and are delivered online Monday to Friday.
You will have a tutor to train you and guide you, and at the end of the course youll have the qualifications that underpin the CSCS test.
Reform Training will then book and pay for your test at the test centre nearest to you and apply and pay for your card once youve passed. To be eligible, youll need to have access to broadband or unlimited data and a laptop, PC or tablet and be at least 19 years old, with your 19th birthday before September 1, 2021.

Hs2 Contractors Offer Free Plant Training To Unemployed
Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM Nuttall, working together as the EKFB JV on the HS2 high-speed rail project are to offer free construction plant training courses to local people in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
The four firms are building the 80km section of the railwaybetween the Chilterns and Warwickshire, and are co-ordinating up to 200 freeplaces on the training programme, thanks to funding awarded by the ConstructionIndustry Training Boards Construction Skills Fund.
The accredited plant operator training programme, whichtakes a week to complete, is being delivered in partnership with local trainingproviders, Apple Construction and Buckinghamshire College Group.
Applications are now live and weekly training courses arebeing offered up until March 2021. One hundred people have already registeredto take part and 20 have successfully completed the programme to date.
The free training course is accredited by the ConstructionPlant Competence Scheme .
The course has received backing from BuckinghamshireBusiness First, who have recently established a Redundancy Task Force inpartnership with Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership tosupport local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Michael Sedgwick, EKFBs skills manager said: The lownumber of construction operatives in the local area meant we were able tosecure funding from the CITB to upskill up to 200 local people.
