Why Didn’t I Get My Unemployment Benefits
There are several reasons that your unemployment benefits could have stopped. The simplest explanation is that you have used up all the benefits available to you.
Benefits vary by state, so unemployment compensation depends on your location and your individual claim.
There could also be an issue with your claim. Arasteh notes that when she worked for a nonprofit workforce-development organization, some of her clients said that their checks had unexpectedly stopped. In some cases, she learned that they had answered “No” to the question of whether they were actively searching for a job, causing the unemployment insurance claims to be flagged, and their checks to be stopped.
Arasteh notes that working with a career counselor or career-development agency may have met the job-search requirement, but clients either did not know that or did not know what would happen if they were to answer “No.”
If your benefits have stopped, and you are unsure why, you should check with your state unemployment office for clarification.

What Do I Do About Unemployment After Finally Getting A Job
When a person who is receiving unemployment benefits finds a job, they may continue to receive money through their state UI agency. This depends on whether they are full-time or part-time workers and if they’ve gone back to work permanently or temporarily. It is up to the claimant to let their state know their employment status each week and whether they are available for employment. Failing to do so may delay payment of benefits or stop them entirely and may require that the claimant repay the money.

What Do I Do If I Can’t Get Through To The Unemployment Office’s Call Center
If you’ve been in an endless cycle of busy signals and automated messages like myself, there actually is some hope. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment added a new call-back form to its website Thursday, allowing people to request a call from the state’s unemployment division within one to;two business days. The bad news? The form is currently;only available;for individuals who need help filing an unemployment claim, though it might be expanded to handle other unemployment questions and issues,;CDLE Deputy Executive Director;Cher Haavind said.
If you need questions answered on an existing claim, CDLE has;added a chatbot feature on its website to help users better navigate its unemployment FAQ page. The unemployment division’s call center; which has typically been open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday;;has;expanded to include Saturday hours from 12-4 p.m. Staffing at;its call centers, including its main center and its new Pandemic Unemployment Assistance , has nearly tripled, according to;Unemployment Insurance Division Chief Jeff Fitzgerald.;
Despite the additional call center support, Fitzgerald still urges people to use the CDLE website if at all possible. There, you can file for unemployment insurance while also managing your claim.;If you are self-employed, a gig economy worker or independent contractor, you may be eligible for more specific Pandemic Unemployment Assistance , instead of regular unemployment benefits. You can file a PUA claim here.
State Unemployment Phone Numbers And Getting In Touch With A Live Agent For Help With Your Ui Claim
One thing many readers have been complaining about when it comes to getting help or information on their pending UI payment or current unemployment claim is finding a number to call so that they can get through to someone they can speak to. The challenge is that with the several enhanced unemployment programs now in place or being rolled out, ongoing staffing shortages at state UI agencies due to COVID work restrictions and ongoing system/IT issues with unemployment filing systems it is very hard to get through a live person that can help you.
This has been acutely felt with the 2021 unemployment extensions and for PUA claimants who had exhausted their benefits. With state agencies focusing resources on updating programs and IT systems to administer the UI program extensions, they have little time to take calls and actively help those desperately looking for help with their claims and wondering when they will start getting paid.
Thats why most agencies are directing people to their website or social media channels to get more information. But a lot of time that information is generic and not helpful for most people with issues specific to their claim. So with that in mind here state UI agency contact numbers and some tips and tricks to get through to a live person.

I Was Furloughed By My Employer But They Have Now Reopened And Asked Me To Return To My Job Can I Remain On Unemployment
No. As a general matter, individuals receiving regular unemployment compensation must act upon any referral to suitable employment and must accept any offer of suitable employment. Barring unusual circumstances, a request that a furloughed employee return to his or her job very likely constitutes an offer of suitable employment that the employee must accept.
While eligibility for PUA does not turn on whether an individual is actively seeking work, it does require that the individual be unemployed, partially employed, or unable or unavailable to work due to certain circumstances that are a direct result of COVID-19 or the COVID-19 public health emergency. In the situation outlined here, an employee who had been furloughed because his or her employer has closed the place of employment would potentially be eligible for PUA while the employer remained closed, assuming the closure was a direct result of the COVID-19 public health emergency and other qualifying conditions are satisfied. However, as soon as the business reopens and the employee is recalled for work, as in the example above, eligibility for PUA would cease unless the individual could identify some other qualifying circumstance outlined in the CARES Act.

An unemployment pin number is integral in the;claim process, especially when it comes to requesting benefit payments. Typically, pins are sent out via the U.S. mail, but;due to Colorado’s unemployment insurance division’s initial surge in claims, Fitzgerald admits the division’s system was overwhelmed and there were some subsequent issues with claimants getting mailed a pin. If you still haven’t received a pin, you can request one by filling out this form.;
