How To Use It And How Does It Work
You’ve been approved for Unemployment Benefits, now what? In most states, the default wayof getting your payment is through a Pre-Paid debit card. This may be a new concept for some,who are used to getting paid through checks or through direct deposit, but never got paid using adebit card, so this concept may seem confusing at first.You can check your state’s handbookto see what other payment methods are available. Some states also offer payment through direct deposit or checks. But in mostcases, if you don’t directly opt-in to one of the other payment methods, you will receive a debit card soon after your claimis processed.

You can also use the debit card to get gas in gas stations. One thing to note is that in most cases you will not be able to use the card at the pump itself. This is because when you use it at the pump, there is a hold placed on your card which most UI debit cards do not support. Instead, you can go inside and pay at the cashier.

Is The Prepaid Card A Credit Card
The Card is not a credit card. The Card has funds loaded on it by your sponsor. You are not able to load value to the Card yourself. Use the Card until all funds on the Card are depleted. Your sponsor may elect to add additional value to the Card if it is a reloadable Card. If no additional value can l be loaded on the Card, the Card will say Non Reloadable and after the Card is depleted, you can throw it away.

Transferring Balances To Your Bank Account
You can electronically transfer funds directly from your ReliaCard to your personal bank account by using the ReliaCard web site at www.usbankreliacard.com. See the U.S. Bank fee schedule for all applicable fees and transaction limitations.
If you want TWC to deposit your benefits directly into your personal checking or savings account at no charge, log on to Unemployment Benefits Services and select Payment Option. For information about direct deposit, go to Receiving benefit payments by direct deposit.

Although U.S. Bank does not charge for this service, standard messaging charges apply through your mobile carrier, and message frequency depends on your account settings.
You can manage your account using your smart phone with the ReliaCard Mobile Banking app to check your account balance, enroll in and manage text alerts, view your most recent transactions, or search for the nearest in-network ATM location. Search for U.S. Bank ReliaCard in the App Store or Google Play. The U.S. Bank ReliaCard Mobile App is free to download. Your mobile carrier may charge access fees depending on your individual plan. Check with your carrier for specific fees and charges.

All claimants are encouraged to select direct deposit to receive their benefits. Direct deposit is free, fast, secure, and links directly to your bank account. Unemployment Insurance Payment Options
Posted: Oct 10, 2021 · If you apply for Unemployment Insurance, you will be asked whether you want to receive your benefits by direct deposit or debit card. If you apply over the phone, you will automatically receive your benefits via debit cad unless you had a previous claim and you received them by direct deposit.
What Is Edd Debit Card
To help customers get their Unemployment Benefits, Disabilities, and the Paid Family Program quickly, easily and securely, EDD has partnered with Bank of America to introduce the EDD Debit Card. The EDD Debit Card is the same as any other bank cards that access funds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be used wherever Visa debit cards are received. Do not discard your card as the EDD Debit Card is valid for three years after the date of issue, and will be used for all EDD benefit plans. Bank of America EDD Login
Carefully read your California Employment Development Department deposit agreement and Banking Schedule to ensure you understand any bank fees that may apply to your card, when you receive your EDD Debit Card and receive the package by mail, . Bank Fee can be avoided by careful use of the card.
To get access to money without compensating a charge you can do the following:
- Cash-back shopping in grocery stores, Medical and Drug stores and post offices in the U.S.
- ATM Withdrawal from Bank of America ATMs
- Unlimited cash access to any bank or credit union that accepts Visa cards. .

Reliacard Activation Time Limit & Expiration
You must activate your card within 12 months of your first benefit payment, otherwise your payments will return to TWC. We cannot reissue these benefits.
Your ReliaCard is valid for two years, even if you stop receiving unemployment benefits. The expiration date is on the front of your card. Keep your ReliaCard in case you apply for benefits again before it expires. To avoid being charged a monthly inactivity fee, do not keep a balance on your card for more than 12 months without using it.
If you are receiving benefits when your card expires, U.S. Bank will automatically mail you a new card.
You can use your ReliaCard to:
- Make retail purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Look for the Visa logo.
- Get cash back when you use your card for retail purchases at participating merchant locations. The amount of cash back may vary by store. Be sure to ask about cash-back limits before beginning your transaction.
Select Credit or Debit to make a purchase. Select Debit to get cash back with your purchase at participating merchants. You will have to enter your PIN and indicate the amount of cash you want in addition to the cost of the purchase. If you select Credit, you will need to provide your signature, and you cannot get cash back.
You cannot use your ReliaCard to:
- Pay for gasoline at the pump. To protect you from overdrafts and pre-authorization holds, you must go inside the service station and pay at the counter before you start pumping gas.

Waiting on your new ReliaCard®? You can track the status of your ReliaCard® using U.S. Banks Check My Card Status. Use Card Tracker to:
- Find out if your card is in production
- Find out if it has been mailed
- View the date your card was mailed
- Find out if U.S. Bank has received the enrollment request from TWC.
To use Card Tracker, select the Card Tracker icon on U.S. Banks ReliaCard website: www.usbankreliacard.com. On the Check My Card Status page, select Texas Workforce Commission from the Select your Program drop-down menu, enter your date of birth and Social Security number in the marked fields, then select submit. Card Tracker is available on U.S. Banks website and on the mobile app.
U.S. Bank will also email you when they create your account to let you know they will be mailing your card soon IF your email address is on file with TWC. Make sure to update your contact information with TWC to include your email address if you want U.S. Bank to notify you about your new card.

Can I Make My Mortgage Or Rent Payment With My Reliacard
Yes. You can pay your mortgage, rent or other bills with your ReliaCard.
To set up a bill payment, follow the steps below
First, log into your ReliaCard account at usbankreliacard.com.
Next, go to the top navigation bar and choose Manage Money.
Third, choose Pay Bills.
Next, select the company you want to pay from the payee list.
If you cant find the company, you can manually enter the payee name by selecting Add a Payee.
Fifth, Enter the amount you want to pay and select the payment date.
Lastly, Select the Review and Pay button.

Where Are The Unemployment Debit Cards
BUFFALO, N.Y. For some who have been able to get through to New York State Unemployment, theres another issue when it comes to how theyre getting their money.
For many, like Irvin Bates Sr. from Buffalo, the problems surround the KeyBank unemployment debit card, which has all the unemployment money on it.
Its getting to the point that I cant sleep at night, he said. Im worried about how Im going to take care of things.
Bates has been waiting more than seven weeks for his KeyBank unemployment card to arrive in the mail after he was laid off from his job at a local factory.
Im worried about food, Im worried about how Im going to eat, he said. Each week it says credited to the debit card but I have not received the debit card.
Bates estimates the card should now have about $7,000 on it, which is money the disabled veteran says he needs to pay bills.
Its the same story for Jeff Schuler, who says he was a bus aid before the pandemic started.
This is going on seven weeks, he said.
Seven weeks hes been waiting for his money, and the debit card.
Its supposed to be in a plain envelope from KeyBank, he said. A couple people I know told me to call KeyBank which I did. I get a recording stating to call back within 21 dayswhich I did.
Both Bates and Schuler say no one answers.
So we called, and got that same recording. We then took our questions to KeyBanks Media Relations Team.
They released the following statement:
What Is The Prepaid Card
The Card is a Visa®-branded debit card provided to you by your sponsor as either a business funds card or a personal funds card.
- A business funds Card must be used solely for business purposes and can only be used to purchase goods and services specified by your sponsor and not for personal, family or household purposes. Your sponsor has a right to cancel the Card at any time. Ask your sponsor if there are any additional restrictions
- Your sponsor may also choose to issue you a personal funds Card. A personal funds Card can be used for any lawful purpose you choose. For example, your sponsor may issue you a Card instead of a check for reimbursing you for travel expenses, paying sales commissions, an award or an incentive. The money on the Card belongs to you and you can spend it anywhere that Visa Debit cards are accepted.
- With both fund types, you have access to the funds 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can use the Card anywhere Visa Debit Cards are accepted: in stores, online, by mail and by phone. You may also get cash with the Card at Cirrus® or Visa ATMs worldwide. Your sponsor determines if cash access is permitted.

What Are The Customer Service Fees
Each month, you are allowed two free calls to the customer service integrated voice response plus one additional call each time money is deposited into your card account. You can use the IVR to check your balance, hear your transaction history, or discuss your account information and transaction history with an operator. After you have used all of your free calls, your account will be charged $0.40 for each additional call made during the calendar month. There is never a charge for reporting a lost or stolen card or to question a transaction posted to your account.

When You Will Receive The Card
If you are eligible, we will issue your first payment approximately four weeks after you apply for benefits. You should receive your ReliaCard in the mail within 10 business days after we send your first payment to U.S. Bank. After the first payment, you should receive payment on your ReliaCard account within two business days after we process your payment requests.
If you qualify for unemployment benefits, you will receive a ReliaCard if:
- You do not sign up for direct deposit or you selected debit card as your payment option, or
- You signed up for payment by direct deposit, but there was a problem verifying your bank account information.
Go to Changing Your Payment Option to change how you receive your benefit payments.

Sign Up For Direct Deposit Or Receive A Reliacard
Due to potential fraud, U.S. Bank has started freezing Reliacards believed to have been involved in identity theft.
If yours has been incorrectly frozen, please contact U.S. bank. If you believe you are a victim of UI fraud please report it here.
For all new claims, the first payment is usually sent by paper check.
The Employment Department pays benefits electronically either by a U.S. Bank ReliaCard® Visa debit card or direct deposit. If you dont apply for direct deposit, you will be sent a ReliaCard®.
With direct deposit, we electronically transfer your weekly benefit payment into your checking or savings account at your bank, credit union, or savings and loan. To apply for direct deposit you will need your routing and account numbers.
- Use the Online Claim System and select electronic deposit,” or
- Print the Authorization for Electronic Deposit Form and send it to us. Note: Due to our current workload, mailing or faxing these forms to us will delay your direct deposit. Using the Online Claim System is the quickest way to receive direct deposit.
Setting Up Direct Deposit For Unemployment Benefits
If you want your unemployment benefit payments sent directly to your bank account, you need to set up direct deposit. You can set up direct deposit online or by phone.
To set up direct deposit, you will need:
- Your Social Security number
- The routing number of your bank
- The account number of your checking or savings account
Once you set up direct deposit, it will take 9 business days to verify your bank account. While your bank account is being verified, you must continue to request benefits weekly and certify your eligibility using TeleCert or UI Online. Once your claim has been approved, your benefits will be deposited into your account 2 business days after you request your weekly benefits.

Bank Of America Edd Debit Card
The Bank of America EDD Debit Card allows benefits to be paid to those applicants who do not have a bank account and eliminates the need for EDD to request and keep bank account details for each claimant.
According to EDD, Bank of America will begin issuing chip-based extra security layered bank Debit cards to other citizens who collect unemployment, disability, or Family Pension benefits from July 25, 2021. This move is designed to better protect cards from fraudulent use of magnetic strip cards.
The EDD debit cards are valid for up-to three years and can be used with the latest claims, so EDD recommends hanging on to them until they expire, even if cardholders have stopped collecting EDD Debit card Benefits.
Beware Of Bank Of America Edd Card Scammers
Many Bank of America customers using the Employment Development Department debit cards have reported unauthorized withdrawals.
Investigators are trying to find people behind $ 50,000 by fraudulently extorting money.
They advise people with EDD or unemployment benefit cards to get inside the bank transaction.
A Bank Of America EDD Card holder said:
I have my savings account with Bank of America, and my EDD benefits I get. They all pass Bank of America, so I just wanted to look to talk to someone, but I got here, and its 5 oclock and theyre really closed. , so thats a bomb.
The bank had a note on the sad door that closed at 4 p.m. rather than 6 p.m.
In July, investigators released photos of four employees accused of stealing bank card details from ATMs at Bank of Americas State Street in Santa Barbara.
