Work With Any Lenders Or Companies You Regularly Pay A Bill To

In the meantime, while you wait on your payments, make a list of everyone you regularly pay a bill to and work with. Its worth reaching out to all of those lenders and firms to see if they might be able to help work out a payment plan while you await more income through UI.

They also might be able to reduce your monthly payment, or you could switch to a cheaper plan if its for a utility company.

You Made A Mistake On Your Claim

If youre filing for the first time, or the claim forms have changed, or your states filing system has changed, then its easy to make a mistake on your unemployment application. Unfortunately, sometimes the smallest thing, such as failing to check a box, can keep your claim from being automatically approved. Instead, it will end up in a long queue of claims that need a human to review them.

Here are some of the mistakes that people make when filing for unemployment.

Be Patient And Contact Your State Representatives

Unfortunately, however, waiting for your UI benefits is majorly just a waiting game.

But youre not entirely defenseless while you wait for your payments. Evermore recommends reaching out to your state representatives and lawmakers, letting them know about the issues youve faced. That way you bring the problems to their attention and they feel more pressure to make changes.

The biggest reason that the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation hasnt been extended is because people in Washington think, Problem solved. The unemployment rate dropped. The stock market is doing OK. Were fine, Evermore says. They have to hear from people who are struggling.

Do I Have To Look For A Job To Get North Carolina Unemployment Benefits

One of the requirements for collecting benefits is that recipients must conduct an active and ongoing job search each week. Claimants must contact at least five potential employers during the week. Failure to make at least five contacts in a week could result in your benefits being denied or delayed for that week.

The DES has the right to check your work search records for up to five years after you claim benefits, so not only should you keep an accurate log of your work search records every week you are claiming benefits, you will need to keep those records for that five year period. When Do Unemployment Benefits Get Deposited Answers By State

Unemployment payment schedules vary by state. Your state may pay benefits weekly, bi-weekly, or use a combination of weekly and bi-weekly disbursements depending on the applicant.

Regardless of how often your state disburses benefits, you must file a claim or certification online or by phone before you receive your unemployment payment for each period.

When it comes to unemployment payment methods, most states allow you to either set up a direct deposit to your bank account or receive a prepaid debit card specifically for your unemployment benefits. Some states offer paper checks as an option as well or may mail a paper check for the first unemployment disbursement while your direct deposit or debit card is being set up.

Thousands Of Georgians To Receive $1800 In Extra Unemployment Benefits Next Week

Do Unemployment Benefits Get Deposited On Holidays

ATLANTA Hundreds of thousands of Georgians will receive $1,800 in extra unemployment benefits next week as part of the Lost Wages Assistance Program.

The Georgia Department of Labor tells Channel 2 Action News that the money will be distributed as six extra payments of $300, spread over two days. The first $900 payment will be distributed early next week and the second $900 payment will be issued by the end of the week.

Anyone who already qualified to receive $100 or more weekly in state unemployment benefits will see the money hit their bank accounts.

The Lost Wages Assistance program was created through an executive order signed by President Donald Trump in August to make up to $44 billion in FEMA Disaster Relief funds available to pay unemployed Americans.

This comes after the $600-a-week federal payments expired in July.

After the initial $1,800 payments, its unclear if any extra benefits will be provided through the end of the year. The presidents executive order says the weekly payments will end when the balance in FEMAs disaster relief fund falls to $25 billion or on Dec. 27, 2020.

We understood the Presidents Executive Order was contingent upon the availability of funds, said Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. Although the six weeks of benefits wasnt what many had hoped for, the additional support will make a big difference to some struggling to avoid eviction.

Ive used my savings, and my savings is about gone, Gordon said.
