How to Sign Up for Direct Deposit for Unemployment Insurance Benefits

Unemployed New Yorkers have been encouraged to file for unemployment insurance if needed, and more than 810,000 have filed since March 9. This has created a major volume issue the New York Department of Labor has never seen before.

The application process and the phone system collapsed under the demand. This has left the jobless attempting to file scared and frantic. One spokesperson for Governor Andrew Cuomoâs office shared on Thursday that they have teamed up with Google to streamline the application and handle the demand on the New York State Department of Labor website.

Work on the site should take place on April 9 from 5-7 p.m. The site will be down during this work. After the upgrades, users will fill out the application completely online, and the application will be marked finished. If the application is incomplete in any way, the Department of Labor will call the applicant. No one will need to call the Department of Labor anymore. They will be calling all applicants to follow up.

New unemployment insurance claims should be filed on certain days based on the first letter of your last name.

If you missed your day, it is OK! File on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

How to File:

Set up a NY.gov ID and account

You then will be taken to the online services information page

Halfway down that page on the right side, select the tab Ã¢Unemployment Services

This will take you to the page where you need to enter your Social Security number

Which Documents To Send

Sometimes the DOL will ask you for specific documents. If thatÃ¢s the case, then send in what they asked for. For example, this one person was asked to send in a picture of himself holding his ID and another person was asked to send in a NY utility bill.

If you received a generic request for documents, either via form or letter in the mail, or if you havenÃ¢t received any messages, but think that this might be the problem, then send pictures of the front and back of three documents.

I have seen too many inconsistencies in what the DOL requires to verify ID, so try to cover your bases and send in more documents rather than less. You are generally meant to send in 3 pieces of ID. If you have 4 valid pieces of ID, you may as well send in all 4.

The documents listed below should be your first choice.

First ID: Social Security Card

Second ID: If you have a NY State ID , then send that as your second ID. If you donÃ¢t have NY State ID but do have a Medicaid card, then send that. If you donÃ¢t have a NY State ID or Medicaid card, but do have a school ID, send that.

Third ID: Birth certificate or Passport: If you didnÃ¢t send a NY State ID, then send your birth certificate and passport. Even if you did send in your State ID and Birth Certificate, send your passport as a 4th ID.

During times of emergencies and natural disasters, the rates of scam activities increase. Its important to stay vigilant and aware of scammers who may pretend to be a government agency in order to gain access to your personal information.

The grant is available to South African citizens, permanent residents or refugees registered on the Home Affairs system who are resident within the borders of the Republic of South Africa. In addition, applicants must be:

Above the age of 18

Unemployed
Not receiving any income
Not receiving any social grant

Not receiving any unemployment insurance benefit and does not qualify to receive unemployment insurance benefits
Not receiving a stipend from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme and
Not resident in a government funded or subsidised institution.

The following compulsory information is required from applicants:

Identity Number/Department of Home Affairs permit
Name and surname as captured in the ID

Gender and disability
Banking details bank name and account number

New Sign Up Through Financial Institutions

The CRA may contact you by phone to confirm information. If you have questions about a call you receive, you may read more about how to recognize scams.

You can now sign up for direct deposit for certain business accounts or change your account information through your financial institution. To be eligible to enroll for CRA direct deposit for businesses, your business must have a valid 15 digit business number and one of the following CRA program accounts:

RT Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax
RP Payroll

RC Corporate Income Tax
ZA Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy

You can change your contact information online or by calling the claims center at 800-318-6022 and using the automated system .

To change your information online, sign in to your eServices account and select Settings. Then chose Update contact information under the I want to menu.

Extra $300 Unemployment Under Lost Wages Assistance Program

The NY DOL has paid out the $300 weekly payment approved under the LWA program, which provides supplemental payments to eligible unemployment benefits claimants who have been unemployed, partially unemployed, or unable or unavailable to work due to disruptions caused by COVID-19 and are currently eligible to receive at least $100 per week in benefits. All New Yorkers getting UI benefits currently will be eligible for the LWA since the minimum benefit is $104 in the state. There were a maximum of 6 weeks or $1800 funded under this program and all payment weeks have now been processed.

If you have not received your payment or you may have been eligible for this payment, you will need to contact the NY DOL for retroactive payments. However due to the limited funding for this program, you may not be able to get the extra money any longer.

The SA Social Security Agency has announced that applicants of the R350 SASSA SRD grant can now change their banking details or preferred payment method.

In the latest SASSA news, the Agency said on Thursday that beneficiaries can now change from one payment method to another.

They can change from receiving their grant at the Post Office to a bank account of their choice or vice versa. They also have the flexibility to move from one bank to another, SASSA said.

If This Is A Permanent Change

Visit the Electronic Federal Tax Payment Services website and select My Profile.

Under the Enrollment menu, select Additional Taxpayer Enrollment

Accept Privacy Act and Paperwork Reduction Act information.

Enter the new info. Note: The current financial institution information will display. You need to type over this information to update it.

Select a new PIN number.

Sign out after you complete the new enrollment.

Create a new Internet password.

You can use your unemployment debit card to get cash at any bank that accepts Visa® or any U.S. Bank ATM without a fee. You can also make purchases with the card at any business that accepts Visa® debit cards.

You will receive your card in the mail in a plain white envelope about five to seven business days after your first payment is made. If you do not receive your card and a payment was made, call U.S. Bank ReliaCard customer service at 1-855-233-8379. Once your card is mailed, deposits are usually made within three business days after you request a payment.

Keep your debit card it can be used for future unemployment benefits for up to three years. Read the information included with your card for terms, fees, and conditions. You are responsible for any fees charged. It is your responsibility to monitor the balance in your account to avoid overdrafts.

If I Want To Utilize The State Issued Debit Card What Must I Do

A state issued unemployment debit card is automatically mailed to you after filing your first initial unemployment compensation claim, along with information telling you how to activate the card and select a four digit PIN number. Once you activate the card, you can access available funds.

If you enrolled for direct deposit and want to change back to the unemployment debit card, contact your local office to tell them you want to use the debit card as your method of payment.

Set The New Bank Account As The Default For Payroll In Quickbooks Desktop

Choose Edit, then Preferences.

From the column on the left, select Checking.

Select the Company Preferences tab.

Select the Open the Create Paycheck checkbox and select the bank account and/or select the Open the Pay Liabilities checkbox. And select the bank account.

What you can do to advance the unemployment, direct deposit process

SASSA reminded beneficiaries to make sure they capture their payment information correctly when performing their srd.sassa.gov.za banking details update. If choosing a bank account, ensure that the account is in your name and that the bank account is not closed.

The payment process is delayed if money is sent to a closed account, as SASSA has to wait for the funds to be returned before sending it to the Post Office for collection, SASSA said.

Totsie Memela, CEO of SASSA, added, If choosing a money transfer option, please ensure that the cellphone number provided is correct and is registered in your name. Just like with a bank account, SASSA cannot pay the grant into a cell phone which is registered to another person.

Memela added that the fastest way of receiving the SASSA COVID grant is through a bank account. Citizens without bank accounts are thus encouraged to open an account. There are many entry level, inexpensive options in the market some of which can be opened online, she said.

Beneficiaries who do not provide the correct details between 3 and 9 August, 2020 will only receive their SASSA payments through the Post Office for the remaining months. To enable applicants to perform a SASSA SRD banking details update, SASSA will open its online system for approved beneficiaries to update their payment method.

The Agency said, This will be open from Monday 03 August to Sunday 09 August 2020, 24 hours a day. Approved beneficiaries of the COVID-19 social relief of distress grant can change their payment method by visiting from 03 to 09 August, 2020.

In recent weeks, there have been long queues at Post Offices around the country as beneficiaries try to collect their SASSA payments. Furthermore, there have been reports of funds running out in some cases.

SASSA requested beneficiaries not to visit Post Offices during the first seven days of the month because this period is reserved for payments of normal grants.

It also appealed to beneficiaries to wait for SMS confirmation that their funds are available for collection before going to the Post Office. The notifications are used to limit the number of people going to the Post Office on any given day.
